Elizabeth King

Elizabeth Griffith King, 86, of 31 Rhode Island Avenue Newport, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Newport Hospital in Newport, RI. She was the wife of Roger Hamilton King. Born in Newport, RI on January 14, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Roy Griffith and the late Grace Crane Holt. Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Newport and a graduate of Rogers High School. She worked as a Floor Manager in Newport Hospital for 25 years. She also volunteered her time to Newport Hospital for many years. Mrs. King was an avid and lifelong bridge player and nature lover. Elizabeth was also an incurable yard sale enthusiast. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Roger Hamilton King of Newport, RI, a son Roger Hamilton King, Jr. of Newport, RI, and a daughter Gayle King Lee of Larchmont, NY, two grandsons, two granddaughters and six great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 7, at 11:00 AM in Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, Newport.
