Elizabeth Sillcocks Walker Newport, - Elizabeth Sillcocks Walker, 87, of the St. Claire Home, Newport, RI, formerly of New York, New York, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the St. Clare Home, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Benjamin Harrison Walker, a grandson of President Benjamin Harrison. Born in Rumson, NJ, on August 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ada Jackson Sillcocks. Mrs. Walker had attended the Brearley School in New York City before going to Miss Porters School in Franingham , CT. She lived in New York City until her husband died in 1995 and had been a member of the St. James Church in New York and then at the Church of the Epiphamy also in New York City. Mrs Walker was a member of the Colonial Dames and of The Holland Dames and was a former member of The New York Garden Club. Mrs. enjoyed sailing with her family and was a long time summer resident of Edgertown and Cuttyhunk, MA. She was an accomplished painter in all forms and was especially known for her childrens portraitsand her landscapes. During World War II She served with the American Red Cross in the European Theater working with both the 1st and 3rd Army Divisions. She is survived by two sons Benjamin H. Walker MD, of Portsmouth, RI, and James H. Walker of Middletown, RI, a sister Sarah Graham of Westwood, MA, and Five Grandchildren.She was also the sister of the late Jack Sillcocks and Margaret Wadhams. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2004, at 11:30AM in Cuttyhunk Church. Burial will follow in Cuttyhunk Island Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
