Ella Mae Jones

Ella Mae (Woodley) Jones, 88, of Newport died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Newport Hospital.Born on February 23, 1927 in Greensville County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rayfield and Alice (Woodley) Jaratt.Ella worked for Raytheon for 25 years as a Security Guard. After her time at Raytheon she worked various jobs; a Real Estate License, a Nurse's Aide and a Bus Monitor for ten years with Laidlaw and First Student. She was an avid bowler and traveled to California for a bowling tournament. Ella also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed nothing more than preparing holiday meals for her family.She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Jones of Newport, RI and Betty Williams of Huston, TX, her cousin Thelma Williams of Newport, RI, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins.She was the sister of the late Walter Woodley, the grandmother of the late Robin Jones and the great grandmother of the late Cartier Ziegler Jones.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3:30 pm in Cross Point Church, 14 Rhode Island Avenue, Newport.
