Elmer A. Reynolds, Sr., 87 of Newport, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Newport Hospital surrounded by his family.He was the husband of the late Marion Etta "Aunt Ella" (Snyder) Reynolds, the love of his life.Mr. Reynolds was born in Newport son of the late Elmer A. and Katherine A. (Greenman) Reynolds.Elmer had his Masters in plumbing and heating. He owned and operated Elmer Reynolds Plumbing and Heating for over 50 years. He was a handyman who could fix or build anything. Elmer was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. Elmer enjoyed spending time on his boat with his "Bride" on summer nights watching fireworks. Elmer was an accomplished horseman and enjoyed playing Polo. He spent many snow storms plowing out family, friends and many large construction companies in town.Elmer was truly an animal lover always having a variety of pets. He and his family were known to nurture baby squirrels, raccoons, and rabbits that were abandoned. He always a Labrador hanging out his van window.He is survived by his children, William (Billy) and his wife Beverly Reynolds of Middletown, daughter in law Loreen Reynolds of Bristol, Elmer Jr. and his wife Lynn Reynolds of Middletown, Tina Murphy-Reynolds and her husband James McLoughlin of Jamestown, Douglas Reynolds of Florida. Elmer was the grandfather of Justin Murphy, Jason, Andrea Hall, Matthew, Elmer III (EJ), Michael, and great grandfather of Caden, Clara, Chase and Ian Miranda. He is also survived by his Jack Russell "Sam" that he loved so!Elmer is survived by his many loving nieces and nephews of the Rosa, O'Flaherty and Reynolds families.He was the father of the late Mark Allan Reynolds, John Reynolds and grandfather of the late Patrick Murphy, as well as brother of the late Doris Rosa (Nana Rosa), John Reynolds and William Reynolds.Calling hours will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00AM, with a funeral service at 10:00AM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
