Middletown, RI - Elsie L. Avila Sullivan, 89, of Blenheim-Newport, Middletown, formerly of 6 Simmons Terrace, Middletown, died May 6, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital in New Bedford, MA.She was the widow of the late Michael J. Sullivan, Jr. Born in Newport, RI on April 17, 1915, she was the daughter of Antone and Frances Fagundes Avila.Mrs. Sullivan had lived in Newport and Middletown for 89 years. She resided at Blenheim-Newport for the last three years of her life. She was a Communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. She was a 1934 graduate of Rogers High School. She worked as a telephone operator for ATT for over 30 years, retiring in August of 1973. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America from 1973 to 1999. She is survived by her two sons Dr. Michael J. Sullivan III and his wife Dr. Marianna Sullivan of Rydal, PA and Dr. Stepehn F. Sullivan and his wife Marcia Gaudet Sullivan of Dartmouth, MA, her sister Dorothy Avila Littlefield of Orlando, FL, six grandchildren, Dr. David Sullivan and Michael C. Sullivan both of Dartmouth, MA, Mark and Sean Sullivan both of New York City, NY, Jeremy Sullivan of College Park, MD and Alexandra Sullivan of Rydal, PA, two great-grandchildren Skyler and Trey Sullivan both of Dartmouth, MA, and three nieces.She was the sister of the late Mary Avila Noonan, also a recent resident of Blenheim-Newport. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM, in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
