Elsie M. Perry

Elsie M. (Silvia) Perry, 96, formerly of Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, RI, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Village House Nursing Home in Newport.She was the wife of the Jesse S. Perry who passed away in June of 2015.Born on May 29, 1920 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Manuel P. and Deulinda (Garcia) Silvia.Mrs. Perry was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport and was a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was also a past member of the Middletown Senior Center. An avid sports fan, she especially loved the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.Elsie is survived by her sister, Alice D. Augustus of Middletown, RI; her nieces and nephews, Alicia Hicks, Janice Rego, Ann Burke, Linda Michaud, Betsy Bric, Manny P. Silvia, John Corriera, Larry Augustus, Elizabeth Hicks, Ronald Augustus and Janice Tasso.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother and sisters, Manuel P. Silvia, Mary Corriera and Deulinda Nunes.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.Elsie's family would like to thank the staff of Village House Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care they provided to Elsie in her final days.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Village House Nursing Home Activities Fund, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
