Elvira A. Poblete

Elvira A. (Alwill) Poblete, 95, of Newport died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport. She was the wife of the late Robert Charles Poblete.Born on July 6, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Damas) Alwill. Elvira worked as a data processor for Discount Records, who was later acquired by CBS Broadcasting Company, for a career over 25 years, and retired in 1982. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn, NY. In her free time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, and was an avid baseball fan, originally for the Brooklyn Dodgers and more recently for the NY Mets.She is survived by her children, Robert J. Poblete of Brooklyn, NY and Diane P. Treciokas of Middletown, RI, her sisters, Joan Palmiteri of Brooklyn, NY and Marylyn Young of Staten Island, NY, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.She was the sister of the late Francis Alwill and Elizabeth Stura.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 10 from 2:00-5:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
