Elvira F. Felizberto Silvia, 88, of 20 Selina Lane, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Bedlow Avenue, Newport, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Henry Aloysius Silvia.Born in Tiverton, RI on April 2, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Manuel F. and Maria J. Branco Felizberto.In her younger years, Mrs. Silvia worked as an electrical assembler. After raising her family, she worked on the kitchen staff at private schools on Aquidneck Island, including the Portsmouth Abbey. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, and loved gardening. She is survived by her sons Steven P. Silvia of Portsmouth, RI and Glenn Silvia and his wife Martha Gaynor of Greenville, RI, her grandchildren Sarah Silvia and Thomas Silvia and her sister Rosalie Thomas of East Providence, RI.She was the sister of the late Manuel, John, Joseph, Mary, Laura, Lydia, Isabelle, Emelia, Anne and Madeline Felizberto.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 10:00am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning, from 9:00 - 10:00am, in the funeral home.
