Elzora F. TabolinskyNewport, RI - Elzora F. Tabolinsky, 87, of Newport, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at St. Clare Home.She was the wife of the late Paul TabolinskyMrs. Tabolinsky was born in Salmon River, Nova Scotia on April 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Lottie Maillet Deveau. In her youth she lived in Jamestown, RI. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1940. After her marriage she lived in Hawthorne, New Jersey. With a change in her husband's employment, she relocated to Greenville, South Carolina where she lived for 34 years before returning to Newport. In Greenville she worked as a nanny for several families seeing some of her youthful charges through their college years and, like a family member, attended their graduations. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Church in Taylors, South Carolina.Mrs. Tabolinsky, affectionately known as Al, Sweet Pea and Mrs. T. by her family and many friends, had a real zest for life. In her youth she swam from Newport to Jamestown. While living in South Carolina she and her husband pursued their passion of gem mining in Georgia and North Carolina. She also enjoyed white water rafting on the turbulent Chattooga River in Tennessee. Her most recent adventure came at the age of 78 when she tandem skydived from a plane at 4, 400 feet. While living in South Carolina she spent summers in Newport and enjoyed many happy days with her daughter, sister and grandchildren at Second Beach. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.She is survived by her daughter Carol Potter and her husband James of Newport, her sonsRoy Tabolinsky of Humble, Texas and Paul Tabolinsky of Orlinda, Tennessee along with her sister Margaret McMillan of Lake Forest, California and brother Robert Deveau of Newport. She also leaves her five grandchildren James, Amy, Susan, Catherine and Jimmy as well as eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Roger Deveau and Edward Deveau. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport. Committal Prayers will take place in the chapel at the Atlantic Cremation Service in Portsmouth. Burial will be privateCalling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 -7pm in the funeral home.
