Port St. Lucie, - Emery Arthur Lewis, 78, of Port St. Lucie, FL formerly of Newport, RI, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 at his home in Florida.He was the husband of the late F. Lorraine Donnelly Lewis. A native of Newport, he was born on May 3, 1925, he was the son of the late George Taylor and Susan Spingler Lewis. He had lived in Port St. Lucie for 25 years.A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lewis served with the Navy as a torpedo specialist. Prior to his retirement he was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a member of the Republican Party. He is survived by four daughters Donna Lewis ONeil and Mary Kathleen Cappuccilli both of Newport, RI, Jean Marie ?Ginger? Peckham of Fort Pierce, FL, and Shirley Loraine ?Lori? Torgerson of Cottage Grove, MN, four sons Paul ?PJ? Lewis of Fort Pierce, FL, Emery A. Lewis Jr., George Taylor Lewis III, and Edward Raymond Lewis all of Port St. Lucie, FL, his sister Dorothy E Allhands of Middletown, RI, his brother Bertram H. Lewis of Waterford, CT, his step father Dominic ?Babe? Pinto of Newport, RI, twenty one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.He was the father of the late Donald J. Lewis and Michael Kerry Lewis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2003, at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.
