Emil Francis Nunes

Middletown, - Emil F. Nunes, Jr., 80, of 19 Bayview Park Middletown, formerly of 105 East Main Road Portsmouth, RI, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. He was the husband of Clara Vierra Nunes of Middletown. Born in Newport, RI on March 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Emil Francis and Anna Morgan Nunes. Mr. Nunes was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater in Sipan and Tineum. He worked as a driver for Kraft Foods in the Sealtest Division for 34 years retiring in 1980. He went on to work for the Portsmouth School Department in maintenance for 8 years retiring in 1988. Mr. Nunes was a life member of the Middletown Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Middletown VFW. Mr Nunes was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and sang with the churches mens choir for over 20 years. Besides his wife he leaves a son Robert E. Nunes of Sarasota, FL, a daughter Karen A. Nunes of Bristol, NH, a brother Norman E. Nunes of Middleburg, FL, a sister Blanche M. Medeiros of Middletown, RI, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003, at 8:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport.
