Emily Perry CoreyEmilia Emily P. Corey, 99, formerly of Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at John Clarke Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Middletown.She was the former wife of the late Alfred V. Corey.Born in Middletown, RI on April 15, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelica Nunes Pereira.Emily worked as a utility aide at Newport Hospital retiring in 1978. She had also worked as a retail clerk at Grants and for the school lunch program. She had been a volunteer at Forest Farm Health Care Center for many years and was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 1995. She was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center and a communicant of St. Lucys Church. She crocheted many small blankets for the animal shelter, even while at the nursing home until she could no longer see due to failing eyesight. She is survived by her three daughters, Amelia Amy Medeiros and her husband, Bill, of Middletown, RI, Carolyn Zuccone and her husband, Roger, of Leesburg, FL, and Eleanor Ellie Reismann of Middletown, RI; four granddaughters, Debora Gugliotti of Hampton, FL, Denise Tanner and her husband, Robert, of Orange Park, FL, Tammi McCarraher and her husband, John, of Dartmouth, MA and Danielle Lister of Middletown, RI; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Lister of Winterport, ME and Lauren McCarraher of Dartmouth, MA; one great-grandson, Brandon McCarraher of Dartmouth, MA. She also leaves three nieces and two nephews. She was the mother-in-law of the late Robert Reismann and sister of the late Mary Silvia, Manuel Perry and Joseph Perry.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.
