Portsmouth, RI - Emily Braga Lopes, 93, of Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late George A. Lopes. Born in Newport, RI, on December 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria DeChaves Braga.Mrs. Lopes was a member of the Portsmouth Homemakers Club, the Legion of Mary at St. Barnabas Church. She was an avid bridge player and reader.She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Jerome Lopes and the sister of the late Joseph Braga, Antone Braga, Manuel Braga Jr., John Braga, Frank Braga, George Braga, Anna Ferris, Rose Miller and Mary Oliveira. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 9:00am, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006, from 4-7pm in the funeral home
