Emily M. Schwarz Barlow, 83, of Wabasso Terrace, Middletown, died peacefully at home, on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 with her family at her side.She was the wife of 61 years to Bradley P. Barlow.Born in Newport, RI on November 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William Taylor Schwarz and Emily Martin Schwarz. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1945 and attended the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Barlow was a Church Relations Specialist for 10 years for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan?s Purse and she owned and operated Wabasso Farm, afamily jam, jelly and lollipop business. She did missionary work with her husband in Africa, Haiti, and Mexico and traveled extensively in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica. She was active in 4H leadership and Extension Service, Boy and Girl Scouts, Aquidneck Crafters? Association, the Quoahog Chapter of the NE Family Campers Association, and the Town Howlers Square Dance Club.In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: David Barlow, Landis, NC; Bethany Bosold, Reading, PA; Pamela Vandermark, Cape May, NJ; and Timothy Barlow, Middletown. She has eight grandchildren: Glenn Bradley, Katie and Brent Barlow; Alyssa Bosold; Joshua, Jacob and Jillian Vandermark; and Hannah Barlow; and three great-grandchildren: Alicia, Rebecka and Bradley Wayne Barlow.Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 3 pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, ?Brick House?, 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 1-3 pm in the funeral home just prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan?s Purse, International Headquarters, 801 Bamboo Road, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607
