Bristol, - Emily Gilman Fuller Nicholson, 76, of 15 Low Lane Bristol, and a summer resident of Bear Island, died Friday, August 15, 2003 at home, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William Sayles Nicholson. Born in Providence, RI on July 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Alice Anthony Fuller. Mrs. Nicholson grew up in Providence where she lived until moving to Bristol thirty years ago. She was a Graduate of Lincoln School and Smith College. After teaching elementary school in Connecticut for a brief period she moved back to Providence where she raised her family. Mrs. Nicholson was the Drama Department Director at Wheeler School for many years. She was active in the music department and choirs of Central Congregational Church, the Wednesday club Debating Group, and the International Pet Therapy Program at Miriam Hospital. Mrs. Nicholson also participated as a volunteer and donor in the Ocean State Lyric Opera, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and more recently the Herreshoff Museum. She was an avid skier, world traveler, sailor, tennis player, theatergoer, dog and music lover. Mrs. Nicholson continued to educate herself throughout her later life by participating in Elderhostel Programs. She is survived by three sons W.S. Nick Nicholson Jr. of Jamestown, R.I., Peter G. Nicholson of Kailua, HI, and Nathaniel F. ?Jake? Nicholson of Harpswell, ME, one daughter Julia Jill Nicholson Williams of Westborough, MA, one brother R. Clinton Fuller III of Amherst, MA, and six grandchildren.
