Emily Mary Frazier

Middletown, - Emily Mary Peters Frazier, 86, of 1516 Wapping Road Middletown, formerly of 38 South Drive, Portsmouth, died Friday, September 26, 2003 at home.She was the wife of the late James P Frazier. Born in Newport, RI on September 3, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Nunes Peters. Mrs. Frazier worked as a secretary for Dr. Frederick Alofsin for many years. She was a Newport Tennis Champion during the 1940s and was also on the Newport Rhode Island Recreation Business Girls Basketball Team where they won several championships during 1934 to 1940. Mrs. Frazier was a member of St. Barnabas Church and the Portsmouth Multi-Purpose Senior Center. She is survived by three nieces Patricia Andrade of Middletown, RI, Constance Jaccobucci of Park Ridge, IL, Laurie Bowler-Reading of West Warwick, RI and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late John W. Peters, Mary Johnston, Betty Bowler and Amelia Allen. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery in Portsmouth. Donations in her memory may be made to the Portsmouth Senior Center, 110 Bristol Ferry Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
