Middletown, RI - Emily Rose Alvernes Almeida, 91, of 222 Oliphant Lane Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Jesse Almeida. Born in Portsmouth, RI on June 8, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Augustus Alvernes. Mrs. Almeida was a communicant of St. Lucys Church. She was an avid Red Sox Fan. She is survived by two sons Frederick J. Almeida of Esmond, RI, and Joseph F. Almeida of Middletown, RI, her daughter Bernadette Faria of Middletown, RI, a sister Marion R. Perry of Middletown, RI, a brother Joseph Alvernes of Middletown, RI, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Jesse J. Almeida, Albert A. Almeida, and Richard E. Almeida and the sister of the late Rose Souza, Mary Perry, Belmeida Perry, Antone Alvernes and Frank Alvernes.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2004, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
