Emily Rose Pine

Emily Rose Pine, 93, of Sharon Court, Newport, RI, died Monday, January 9, 2012 at Newport Hospital.Born in Newport, RI on August 31, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose Medeiros Pine.Ms. Pine was a Fiscal Accountant for 36 years at the Naval War College in Newport before retiring in 1978. She was a 1935 graduate of Rogers High School and a 1940 graduate of Milgrim Secretarial School. She was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport and enjoyed the outdoors, especially going to the beach and gardening. She was also a former volunteer at Newport Hospital.She is survived by two nieces, Arline Mello and her husband Joseph of Portsmouth, RI and Jo Lynn Seabridge of Sacremento, CA; and a grandniece, Laurie Udine of Delray Beach, FL. She was the sister of the late Joseph Pine, John Pine, Frank Pine and Mary Perry.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 8 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 4-6 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jesus Saviour Church, 509 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.
