Emily ParvoNEWPORT, RI?Emily Parvo, 93, of 6 Freeborn Street, Newport, RI, died at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. She was the wife of the late Jesse Parvo who passed away in February. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last November. Born in Newport, RI on December 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Emily Oliver Santos.Mrs. Parvo was a devoted mother, talented seamstress and homemaker, extraordinary cook and hostess. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends and made her home the center of holiday celebrations. She was an avid card player who spent many Saturday nights with ?the girls?, her very close group of longtime friends, at times combining marathon card games with weekend trips to Cape Cod.For many years, Emily assisted her husband in their family business, Jesse Parvo Son, Inc., managing the office. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, dining out and wintering at their second home in Pompano Beach, Florida where they spent pleasant times socializing with the many friends and neighbors they had met throughout the years. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, William J. Parvo and his wife Janice of Newport; her daughter Barbara Boog and her husband James of Middletown; four grandchildren: Kevin Boog and his wife Gisele of Middletown; Brian Boog and his wife Maureen of Rumford; David Parvo and Elizabeth Parvo of Newport; four great grandchildren: Julia and Jesse Boog of Middletown, Nicholas and Maggie Boog-Quinn of Rumford. She leaves behind two sisters, Agnes Brosseau of North Smithfield and Alice Santos of Newport and a brother, Arthur Santos of Newport. She was preceded in death by three brothers Frank ?Jake? Santos, Joseph ?Mike? Santos, and Alfred Santos, and two sisters, Edna Santos and Evelyn Martins. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be at St. Columba?s Cemetery in Middletown, RI. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 12, 2006, from 3-7 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway , Newport , RI.
