Newport, RI - Emma "Sally" E. (Russell) Conner, 103, died on Sunday May31, 2015 at Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown with her family by her side.She was the wife of the late Llewellyn A. Conner. Born in Newport, RI on October 3, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Jose Raposo Ramacho Pereira Russell and Margarida Joaquina Andrade-Almeida Russell.Mrs. Conner worked as a waitress for many years and also for Meals on Wheels. She loved crocheting for her family, puzzles, Bingo at Foxwoods and was a huge Red Sox Fan. She was a Jai-Alai fan, bowled in the Golden Girls Bowling League and played Bocce into her 90's. She was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center and was an active member in all activities at Forest Farm Healthcare Center before her recent illness. Emma's husband was career Navy and they lived in many different areas throughout the United States, before retiring in Newport. She loved life and was a friend to all. She is survived by her children, Michael L. Conner and his wife Diane of Middletown, RI, Kathleen L. Page and her husband Paul of Sebring, FL, Deborah A. Stinton and her husband Andrew of Portsmouth, RI, Russell P. Conner of Newport, RI, and Mary E. Levrault and her husband Leo, of Somerset, MA, her sister Emily Pucko of Lilburn, GA, twelve grandchildren, Christian, Tracey, Bob, Lori, Jason, Stephen, Nicole, Jocelyn, Jena, Jill, Kelly and James, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.She was the mother of the late David A. Conner and Stephen F. Conner, and grandmother of the late Justin Conner. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Joseph Russell, Jesse Russell, Mary Nappi, Angelina Greenwald, John Russell, William Russell, Vera Jarvis, William Russell and Irene Russell.Calling hours will be held on Friday June 5, 2015 from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway Newport, RI 02840. Her funeral will be held on Saturday June 6, 2015 at 9am from the Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.
