Eric H. Fillion

Eric H. Fillion, 66, of Rumford, Rhode Island, died on February 14, 2024. Born in Providence, RI on April 20, 1957, he was the son of the late Everett and Demetra (Lefas) Fillion.

Eric is survived by his stepmother Karen (Ganong) Fillion, and his three siblings: Brian Fillion and his wife Ellen Langas (Haverford, PA), Ann Marie Fillion (North Kingston, RI), Mark Fillion and his wife Sheri (Middletown, RI), and nephews Ben and Matt Fillion.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (1979), Eric earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) and went on to work in the nuclear power plant industry. Prior to retiring, he worked at Hammel Dahl and spent most of his career with Metso.

Eric engaged in a variety of pursuits from cooking and woodworking to building computers. He enjoyed music, motorcycles, and football. Eric had an active mind and a quick wit and was always ready to discuss virtually any topic from Homer Simpson to quantum physics. Eric was smart, kind, funny and loved, he will be missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery, 465 Browns Ln, Middletown, RI.
