Ernest L. Needham

Middletown, RI - Ernest L. Needham, MSGT, USMC. Retired, died April 15, 2013 at the John Clarke Nursing Center. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Ruth (Weaver) Needham. They had been married 27 years. Ernie was born in Bellflower, CA on October 28, 1931 he was the son of the late Ernest W. Needham CW04, USMC, Retired and the late Hazel (Conrad) Needham. He was a proud Marine and served his country for 22 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from HMX-1 (Marine One) at Quantico, VA. The rest of his military career was spent in the Pacific. His love of aviation continued in civilian life having worked for Agusta International and NAVPRO at Sikorsky Aircraft. Anything that flew or sailed had his interest. Ernie and Pat enjoyed traveling, especially on Cruise ships. They would always have the next one booked. Ernie is survived by his wife Patricia, son Dr. Scott Needham of MT, son David Needham of PA, daughter Bridget Hanson of PA and daughter Elizabeth Needham of Greece and nine grandchildren.He was predeceased by son Paul Needham.At his request there will be no visitation or services.Burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter RI, with Military Honors.
