Esther Botelho

Newport, RI - Esther Marcucci Botelho, 87, of 40 Dudley Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Everett J. Botelho. Born in Fall River, MA on October 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Guido Joseph and Theresa Girodano Marcucci.Mrs. Botelho worked as a disbursement clerk on the Newport Naval Base for 25 years, retiring in 1998. She and her husband also operated the former Imperial Coin-Op Laundromat. As a young girl she helped run the family bakery, the former Columbus Bakery in Newport. Mrs. Botelho was a member of Emmanuel Church. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Donna Louise Murphy and her husband Terence of Middletown, RI and Lisa Diane Mello and her fianc Paul Little of Middletown, RI, her brothers Victor Marcucci of Middletown, RI and Hector Marcucci of Newport, RI and her grandchildren, Patrick Murphy, Terence Murphy, III, Daniel Murphy and Cassandra Mello. She was the sister of the late Corrado Marcucci. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at 10:00am, in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southern New England Region, 931 Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
