Newport, RI - Esther Elizabeth Moser MacDonald, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 28, 2009.She was the wife of the late John Mac MacDonald. Esther, affectionately known as Anecky by her family and friends, was born in Cincinnati, OH on December 31, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Nellie Thompson Moser.She was a talented seamstress in the fashion industry, who worked in the garment district in New York City in her youth and later came to Newport to be with her family and continued to work as a seamstress for 30 years on Newport Naval Base. She met her husband John while in Newport and when he passed away five short years later, she put her energy into taking care of her mother, nieces and great niece. She was a past member of Wanumetonomy Golf Course where she spent a lot of time with her many friends. Anecky enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, upwords and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her sister Dorothy E. Novick of Newport, RI, her nieces Joyce Schiffman of Miami, FL, Carole Graw of Annapolis, MD and Deborah Stoker and her husband David of Middletown, RI, her great nieces Kate Lamond and her husband Scotty of Charlottesville, VA and Kerri Stoker of Newport, her great nephews, Zack Schiffman and his wife Lona of Miami, FL, Jeremy Schiffman and his wife Abby of New York City, NY and Brad Graw of Palo Alto, CA. She was also very proud of her great-great nephews, twins Sam Henry Schiffman of New York City, NY and Lake Schiffman all of Miami, FL.Funeral services and burial will be private.
