Esther M. Luallen

LUALLEN, ESTHER M., 98, of Portsmouth, RI, went to be with the Lord on August20, 2014. She passed away under Hospice care at Forest Farm Health Center,Middletown, RI. Born in Doniphan, Missouri to late Ethel Elliot and HermanLee Limes, and raised by the late William G. Guy and Evangie Mup Morganof Chicago, IL. Esther joins her late Husband, Captain Leslie JackLuallen, USN, ret., who passed away on the same date, but 37 years prior, on August 20,1977. Esther loved to watch sports and had a huge passion for animals. Shewas an avid supporter of the local Potter League for Animals. In herearlier years at the age of 20, she was a Dance Instructor in Chicago. Shemarried Leslie Jack Luallen on June 22, 1939 in Lagrange, IN. In1950, Esther and Jack lived in San Diego, where Jack was assigned to theUS Navy Dental Corps. In the Mid-50s, Esther and Jack moved to Portsmouth, RI,where Captain Luallen was Chief of Dental Services at the Naval Hospital,Newport RI. Esther also enjoyed playing Bridge at the Portsmouth Senior Center.She leaves one niece Anne Hubbard Norton, of El Paso, IL, a step-nephew,Jerry Luallen of Rockford, IL, a long kinship with Betty Evans ofWashington State and she also leaves friends and neighbors who were hersurrogate family over the past few years. A Christian memorial service will be held at St. Marys Episcopal Church Cemetery, Portsmouth, RI on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 am to celebrate the lives of both Captain Leslie J. and Esther M. Luallen, and acknowledge Captain Luallen's faithful and dedicated service to our country. Family and friends are welcome.
