Ethel L. Davis

Newport, RI - Ethel L. Davis, 104, of Newport, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center Newport, RI. Born in Boston, MA on March 19, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Lillian M. (Fleming) Davis. She was the sister of the late Mary Paul and Florence Garniss. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. Ethel was chosen Miss Newport in 1931. She worked for the New England Telephone Co. for 45 years, retiring in March of 1974. She was a parishioner of Trinity Church. The family wishes to thank the staff at Heatherwood Nursing Center for the loving care Ethel received while in their care.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, from 11-12, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, followed by her service at 12pm.Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, East Main Road, Portsmouth.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Heatherwood Health Care Center, 398 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840.
