Ethel Viveiros, 90, of Admiral Kalbfus Road, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Louis Viveiros Sr.Born in Fall River, MA on April 6, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Manuel F. Rosa and Rose Cademia Silvia.Mrs. Viveiros worked as a domestic housekeeper for prominent local families. She was a communicant of Jesus Savior Church and was a member of the Rosary Sodality and very active with church events. Ethel was an avid Boston Red Sox and Bruins fan and she loved Elvis. She was a collector of Salt-n-Pepper shakers. She always loved animals, and always had cats and dogs around the house, a bird named Elvis and even chickens.She is survived by her sons Louis Viveiros, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, George A. Viveiros and Ronald F. Viveiros of Newport, RI, her daughters Elizabeth A. Viveiros and Anne M. Viveiros both of Newport, RI, her sister, Hortense Cordeiro, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.She was the mother of the late Mary L. Smith, and grandmother of the late Rebecca Ann Viveiros. Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Savior Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 4:00-8:00pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Easter Seals, 5 Woodruff Avenue, Narragansett, RI 02882.
