Montrose, CO - Eugene Marshall Boiani, passed away from this life on the 21st day of March 2006 at the Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, Colorado. He was 83. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine Curtain Boiani and is survived by his brother Leo Boiani and sisters Yolanda Boiani, Elisa Sullivan and Carol McManus, all of Newport, RI. He was also the brother of the late Aldo Boiani, Alfred Boiani and Benny Boiani. Born in Newport, RI on January 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Savino and Carmela Maggioli Boiani.Gene and Lorraine moved to upstate N.Y. in 1955 shortly after Hurricane Carol struck Newport. Gene worked hard for his family throughout his life with his later years enjoying pursuits more paralleling his colorful personality. He was a gentle and kindly man, well liked and known for his sense of humor, fair play and generousity. His interests included roller skating and ?working? the games of chance into profitable games of skill. He enjoyed handicapping the horses, playing cards and optimizing his allowed benefits. A loving and caring father, he will be sorely missed by all who know him. Surviving sons include Eugene Skeets Boiani Jr., Chuck Boiani, Sam Boiani all from upstate N.Y. and Edward Boiani of Montrose, CO. Grandchildren Laura Boiani, Lisa Boiani, Michelle Boiani, Denise Boiani, Eli Shackelford, Cara Shackelford, Ben Boiani, Brian Boiani and Deanna Boiani, and his great grandchildren Ritchie Boiani-Emmi, Molly Boiani, Riley Shackelford and Raelyn Shackelford. His funeral will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 9:00a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006, from 4-7p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
