Eva Louise Roettger

Eva Louise Ewel Roettger, 96, of Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, formerly of 76 Broadway Newport, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the center.She was the wife of the late Alexander Robert Roettger. Born in Kingston, NY on January 7, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Maria Louise Schultz Ewel. Mrs. Roettger was a nurses aide in the OBGYN Department of Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY for 18 years, from 1953 to 1971. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, St. Peters Altar Guild and a former member of the LCW Lutherans Church Women. Mrs. Roettger was a volunteer at St. Peter?s Lutheran Church. She loved to sew and knit for her children and grandchildren and friends. She is survived by three daughters Marie A. Potocko of Moorehead City, NC; Katherine L. Cottrill of Lexington, KY and Alice R. Healey of Newport, RI; nine grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Frederick C. Ewel, Arthur ?Archie? Ewel and Anna F. Ebers. Her funeral will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2005, at 2:00PM, in St. Peters Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be on Monday, February 14, 2005, at 1:00PM, in Rural Cemetery, South Road, Poughkeepsie, NY.Donations in her memory may be made to St. Peter?s Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport, RI 02840.Arrangements are by the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
