Portsmouth, - Evelyn C. Ferreira Riley, 66, of 62 Sylvania Road Portsmouth, formerly of 98 Admiral Kalfus Road, died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Rhode Island Hospital Providence, RI.She was the former wife of James Chase Riley. Born in Middletown, RI on September 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Maria Souza Ferreira.Mrs. Riley worked as a housekeeper at Salve Regina College and St. Georges School. She was a communicant of St. Josephs Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking for her children, grandchildren and friends. She is survived by two sons James M. Riley of Middletown, RI, and Sean P. Riley of Newport, RI, three daughters Sheila Lavault of Newport, RI, Colleen Medeiros of New Bedford, MA, and Sharon Riley of Portsmouth, RI, three sisters Hilda Sullivan and Mary E. ?Betty? Rodrigues Silvia both of Middletown, RI, Margaret Nunes of Middleburg, FL, and seven grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Mariano Ferreira, Joseph Ferreira and Russel Ferreira. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2002, at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
