MIDDLETOWN, - Evelyn Gosling, 97, passed away peacefully August 17, 2007 at Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Edward Payson Gosling, Jr. Born in Newport, RI on July 29, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Perry and Corinne Glynn Bacheller.A graduate of Rogers High School and of Pembroke College in 1932, she was employed at the Casino offices and as a laboratory technician at the Union Hospital in Fall River, MA until her marriage to the late Edward Payson Gosling, Jr., retired Vice President of Industrial National Bank, on March 25, 1940. She was an active member of the Altar Guilds at St. Marys Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and St. Johns Episcopal Church in Barrington for many years. A native Newporter she returned to Middletown in 1983 from Barrington. Evelyn enjoyed family, boating, gardening and watching birds at her feeders, as well as golf and tennis. She is survived by her three sons Edward Gosling and his wife Jean of Portsmouth, William A. Gosling and his Jean of Ann Arbor, MI and Robert Gosling and his wife Denise of Bow, NH, her grandchildren Donna Horan and her husband John, Kathy Ricardo and her husband Larry, Margaret Hartnett and her husband Eddie, Neil Peirson and his wife Debbie, Harry Peirson and his wife Mary, Linnie Johnson and her husband John, Lisa Gosling, Jennifa Gosling and her husband Aragorn Healy, William B. Gosling, Jonathan Gosling and her great grandchildren, Christopher, the late Cathleen, Jeremy and Bridget Horan, Thomas and Elizabeth Ricardo, Emonn, Conor, Ryan and Kaitrin Hartnett, Erin, Timothy, Sarah, Meaghan and Chase Peirson, Calvin Healy, and Amelia and Elizabeth Johnson. Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 20, 2007, at 11:00am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
