Portsmouth, RI - Evelyn M. Bertrand Faria, 76, of 198 Jepson Lane, Portsmouth, RI, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, surrounded by her family at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of Frank J. Faria. Born in Fall River, MA, on January 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Yvonne Charest Bertrand. Mrs. Faria along with her husband owned and operated Faria Brand Potatoes. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. Besides her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her children, Frank Faria Jr. and his wife Mary Spinney Faria of North Kingstown, RI, Richard Faria and his wife Donna King Faria of Portsmouth, RI, Christine Handibode and her husband Peter of Middletown, RI and Dawn Mello and her husband Mark of Portsmouth, RI, her grandchildren, David Mello of Myrtle Beach, SC, Monica Faria Baird of Eureka, CA, Daniel Faria of East Greenwich, RI, Nicole Mello of Portsmouth, RI and Timothy Mello of Portsmouth, RI, her great grandchildren, Madisyn Mello of Middletown, RI, Sita Nalani Baird of Eureka, CA and Sage Mello of Myrtle Beach, SC, her brothers Philip Bertrand, Raymond Bertrand and Maurice Bertrand all of Massachusetts, and her sisters Jeanette Mercier and Lorraine Craven both of Massachusetts and Bernadette Marcelino of Connecticut. She was the sister of the late Jacqueline Bertrand, Dorothy Bertrand, and Pauline Houde. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2006, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the funeral home.
