Fernando R. Sangeado

Newport, RI - Fernando R. Sangeado, 59, of Newport, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at home. He was the husband of Barbara Ann (Steinhouse) Sangeado. Born in Mexico on June 26, 1954, he was the son of the late Amado Sangeado Perez and Matilde Romero Mollinero. Mr. Sangeado retired from the Navy Reserves after 24 years of service, having served in Iraq. After retiring he attended URI's Ocean Engineering school and was also a graduate of Rhode Island Trade Shops. Mr. Sangeado worked at Newport Naval Station in the Ney Hall Galley for the past twelve years. He was an avid bicyclist, a voracious reader and enjoyed classical music. He was also fluent in six languages being self-taughtBesides his wife of 23 years, he is survived by his only daughter and light of his life Sarah Sangeado of Newport, RI, his brother Evaristo Sangeado, his sister and brother-in-laws Karen Thomas Downes, Susan Logan Alan Neal, Michael Kori Steinhouse, Robert Steinhouse and Mary Steinhouse and Clarence Walters, his four dogs, Nicki, Pepe, Lola and Carly and many nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 3-6, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
