Newport, - Filomena DeMatteo ?Babe? McFarland, 75, of 65 Houston Avenue Newport, died Sunday, May 18, 2003 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of Anthony L. McFarland of Newport. Born in Newport, RI on August 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie Manselli DeMatteo.Mrs. McFarland volunteered at the James L. Maher Center. She was a member of St. Augustins Church and the Womens Guild. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her husband of 53 years she is survived by three sons Michael A. McFarland of Portsmouth, RI, Peter L. McFarland of Bristol, RI, and Timothy Scott McFarland of Middletown, RI, two sisters Christine Laurin and Antonette Anderson both of Newport, RI, two granddaughters and one grandson.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in St. Augustins Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport.
