Flora May Rice

Newport, RI - Flora May Chace Rice, 101, of 15A Pond Avenue, Newport, RI, formerly of 9 Park Avenue Newport, died Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Ernest Herbert Rice. Born in Portsmouth, RI, on September 22, 1904, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Chace Jr. and Mary Faulkner Chace. Mrs. Rice worked as a corsetier at Cherry Webb retiring in 1973. After her husband passing, she enjoyed spending time at Friends Evangelical Church, singing in the church choir and hsaring with others many of the older hymns. She also participated in some of the church boards and committees. She is survived by her niece Deanna Shovelton of Milford, CT, her nephews Merrill Chace of Stratford, CT and Donald Chace of Heber City, UT, her stepson Ronald Rice of San Diego, CA, her stepdaughter Faith McMahon of Warwick, RI. She was the sister of the late Merrill Chace. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at 11:00a.m., in Friends Evangelical Church, 70 Bliss Mine Road, Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30-11:00a.m. in Friends Evangelical Church.Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery
