Florence S. Diomandes

Florence S. Diomandes, 92, of 14 Fowler Avenue, Newport, RI, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Damon S. Diomandes. Born in Boston, MA on Dec. 28, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Gregory and Kalliope Bartis Vouros. Florence was a longtime member of St. Spyridons Church. She enjoyed cooking a good meal and spent many hours reading.She is survived by three sons Kerry R. Diomandes and Stephen D. Diomandes, both of Newport, RI, and Gregory J. Diomandes of North Attleboro, MA, her sisters Theresa Sarris of Easton, MA, Marie Mihos of Easton, MA, and Georgia Pappas of Easton, MA, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Rev. Carl Vouros and Charles Vouros. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 8, at 10:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport. Burial will be in Island Cemetery in Newport.
