Florence Sarah Richardson

Florence Sarah Perry Richardson, 77, of 75 West Narragansett Avenue, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Gordon Jack Richardson. Born in Newport, RI, on November 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Carrie Mellieu Perry.Mrs. Richardson had worked for the State of Rhode Island Education Department, for the school lunch program for 20 years, retiring in 1990. After retiring from the school lunch program, she joined her son, working at Richardsons Beach Hardware until 2000. She had also worked for many years in the Broadway area as a cashier for the Satalite Restaurant and the Capital Restaurant. She was a member of Emmanuel Church. Mrs. Richardson loved her family, children, and grandchildren, where she was a daily part of their lives. She was known as a great ?Care Giver? to many friends and family members. She is survived by two sons John ?Jack? Richardson of Middletown, RI, and Robert S. Richardson of Newport, RI, five brothers William Perry of Norfolk, VA, Donald Bruce Perry of Portsmouth, RI, Everett Perry of Evans, GA, Allyn Perry of Melborne, FL, and Edward Perry of Riverside, CA, a sister Amy Perry of Newport, RI, six grandchildren Heather Bestoso of Newport, RI, Lee Richardson of Newport, RI, Jay Richardson of Portsmouth, RI, Bridget Richardson of Newport, RI, Robert Richardson of Newport, RI, and Myles Murray of Newport, RI, and four great grandchildren Norman Daniel Bestoso and Lilly Bestoso both of Newport, RI, and Connor Richardson and Paige Richardson both of Portsmouth, RI, and many nieces and nephews and also survived by her cousin Sis Anderson who has spent numerous hours assisting in her care over the last few years. She was also the sister of the late Edith Parks, Robert Perry and Norman Perry. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at 12:00 PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006, from 5-8 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.Donations may be made to the Newport Rescue Wagon Fund 21 W.
