Florinda C. Faria

Portsmouth, RI - Florinda C. (Correia) Faria, 89, of Middle Road, Portsmouth, RI, died on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Faria, Jr. whom she married in 1959.Born in Newport, RI on August 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Antonio D. Correia and Mary A. (Martins) Correia. Mrs. Faria was a Teller with Hospital Trust Bank, formerly Aquidneck National Bank, in Newport for 37 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center and was active in her parish community. She is survived by her daughter, Francesca A. Faria, with whom she lived; her brother-in-law, Joseph F. Brinley, Sr., of St. Louis, MO; her nephew, Joseph F. Brinley, Jr., and his wife, Jane, of Washington, DC; her niece, Sarah Brinley, and her husband, Kevin O'Flaherty, of Newton, MA; her niece Carol Long, and her husband Tim, of St. Louis, MO; and ten grandnieces and grandnephews; Miriam, Tony, Anna, Liam, Siobhan, Michaela, Mary, Aidan, Janie, and Karen.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Mary C. Bloom and Anna M. Brinley. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI.
