Flovell Alice Walker

Flovell Alice Walker, 88, formerly of 18 Murphy Circle, Middletown, RI, died peacefully at the Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown, RI on Thursday, December 27, 2012.She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Walker who passed in 1984.Born in Mishawaka, IN on May 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ocie (Nifong) Ewing.Mrs. Walker was a payroll clerk at N.U.S.C. before retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of St. Lucy Church in Middletown and was a member of the Middletown Senior Center. She enjoyed Bingo and crocheting, but most of all she loved her grandchildren.She is survived by her children, Lawrence J. Walker of Uncasville, CT, Thomas F. Walker and his wife Frances of Warwick, RI and Patricia A. Walker of Middletown, RI; her sister, Lois Yeager of Indiana; her grandchildren, Brian Walker and his wife Alyssa of Jackson, NH, Jonathan Walker and his fiance' Susan of East Providence, RI and Stephanie George and her husband Jonathan of Warwick, RI; two great-grandchildren, David Murray Walker and Anna Sophia George; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Robert, Loren, Andy and Jim Ewing and Ocie White.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 8:30 to 9:30 am in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am in St. Lucy Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Forest Farm Health Care Center, Activities Fund, 193 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
