Forrest William Christensen

Portsmouth, RI - Forrest William Christensen, 82, of 39 Quail Road, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of 85 Linda Terrace, died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Anne Catherine McDonald Christensen. Born in Newport, RI, on February 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Eric Marius born in Sonbjierg, Denmark and Christine Bach Christensen born in Tabring, Denmark.Mr. Christensen was a 1951 graduate of Brown University, receiving his BA in Physics and Mathematics. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, stationed in Karawa during the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Christensen was an engineer for the Naval Underwater Systems Center, working on the Combat Systems Analysis staff for 30 years, retiring in 1982. After his retirement from NUSC, he continued his work as an engineer for Control Systems Analysis CSA retiring in 1994. Mr. Christensen was an avid golfer, painter, gardener and personal invester. He was known as a family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends. He is survived by his son Eric John Christensen of Portsmouth, RI, his daughters Diane Christine Christensen of Richmond, RI, and Madeline Anne Oliver of Seekonk, MA, his sister Victoria Patykewich of Middletown, RI, and his grandchildren, Olivia Christensen, John Oliver and Gabrielle Oliver. He was the brother of the late Andrew Christensen, Lily Green and Mary Crowley. Funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, 50 Maude Street, Providence, RI, 02903.
