Frances Irons

Newport, RI - Frances Elizabeth Irons, 92, of Newport died on Monday, August 6, 2012, at her son Scott's home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late James Frederick IronsMrs. Irons was born on April 22, 1920 in Newport and was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Todd) Spence. When she was younger she volunteered at the Newport Hospital in the baby ward. She and her best friend Paula Ottilige loved going shopping together and a lot of funny stories came from those trips. She and her husband spent some summers in Maine and some winters in Florida. Her hair turned white early and she blamed that on her four sons. She liked to square dance, shop and cook, but she also loved to order take out. She loved being with her dog Casey.She is survived by her sons: Scott Irons and James W. B. Irons both of Newport, RI and Ronald T. Irons of Guilford, CT, her grandchildren, Michael Irons, Ethan Irons, Michele Irons, Kimberly Irons and Gregory Irons.She was the mother of the late Karl W.
