Frances Lila Jacobs, 72, of 14 Bay View Park, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, November 10, 2005, in Newport.She was the former wife of the late Joseph J. Trifero and Austin J. Connelly.Born in Newport, RI, on November 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Amelia Mueller Jacobs.Mrs. Jacobs was a graduate of Rogers High School, class of 1950, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. She had also attended the Newport School of Nursing. After nursing school she married Joseph J. Trifero who was the co-owner of the Handy Cafe in Newport. Every year Frances and her husband would host clambakes sponsored by the Handy Cafe. For many years, Mrs. Jacobs had worked as a teachers aide for the Newport School Department. She also had worked as the Supervising Deputy Clerk for the State of Rhode Island in the Judiciary Department in Newport District Court, as Clerk of the Probate Court in Newport, and also as a clerk typist for District Court in Newport. After her retirement in 1987, Mrs. Jacobs worked part time for the Canvassing Authority in Newport City Hall. She had also worked at Underwood School as a medical attendant.She was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Newport, where she was a member of the Choir and the St. Marys Church Catholic Guild.She was a member of the Womens Democratic Committee and enjoyed volunteering her time at soup kitchens on Aquidneck Island. She was also a member of the Newport Senior Citizens Center and the Friends of the Newport Library. Mrs. Jacobs traveled extensively with her second husband Austin J. Connelly, visiting Arruba, Puerto Rico, Curacao, Cancun, the Grand Caymans and Ireland.She was an avid little league baseball fan, Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed traveling, cooking and sewing.She is survived by her children, Joseph J. Trifero Jr., of Middletown, RI, Janet Westrich and her husband Andy of Hampton, VA, and Carole A. Trifero of Newport, RI, four grandchildren, Jacob I. Trifero, Sean Trifero and Evan D. Trifero all of Newport, RI, and Lindsey Trifero of Middletown, RI, and two great grandchildren Taylor Trifero of Middletown, RI and Kaitlyn Lila Ann Trifero of Newport, RI.Fuenral Services will be private.Calling hours are omitted.Memorial donations may be made to the Rogers High School Baseball Program, C/O Jim Thomas, P.O.
