Portsmouth, RI - Frances M. Chick Glover, 85, of 349 Fischer Circle, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at home surrounded by her family.She was the wife of George W. Glover for 63, years. Born in New York City, NY on October 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Theodore F. and Margaret Smith Brower.Mrs. Glover graduated from St. Vincents Hospital school of nursing in New York City in 1943 and joined the US Navy nurse corps in 1945. After her marriage in 1946 she continued to work part time in the field of nursing while raising her three children and accompanying her husband at various duty stations in the Navy for 20 years prior to settling in Portsmouth. She enjoyed traveling with her husband around the world to Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, the Mid East and the Far East. Survivors beside her husband are her daughters Christine L. Cotta of Portsmouth and Carolyn M. Hilton of Littleton, MA and her son George D. Glover of Portsmouth, RI, sisters Dorothy T .Cole of Spotswood, NJ, Patricia Ann Cestone of Palm Coast, FL, Margaret R. Retoske of Glen Cove, NY, a brother Robert C. Brower of Florham Park, NJ, four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Joseph D. Brower, Theodore J. Brower, David J. Brower and Mary Grace Kondash. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2006, at 10:00am, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.Her burial will be private.Calling hours will be on Monday, June 15, 2009, from 5-7pm, in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
