Middletown, RI - Frances M. Morris Young, 65, of 24 Smythe Street, Middletown, RI, departed this life to enter into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. She was the wife of Philip Young.Frances Fran Mary Morris was born on September 18, 1942 in Newport, RI to Manuel J. and Mary Andrade Morris. She was the ninth of ten children born to this union. Fran graduated from Rogers High School, Newport, RI in 1960 and worked for several years at the Pentagon and the Department of Transportation Washington, DC and more recently at AHEPA as the Unit Property Manager in Newport, RI.Christened as a child, Fran accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at From the Heart Church Ministries in her adult life. She was extremely proud of her salvation and her relationship with the Lord. Fran was known for her pleasant personality, her award-winning laugh and smile. Her countenance was always a good witness. Those who knew her cherished her friendship and kindly disposition. She was always courteous and willing to assist those in need.On May 12, 1962, Fran married the love of her life, Philip Young, a young sailor stationed in Newport, Rhode Island. On April 19, 1963, she gave birth to their only child, Philip Young, Jr. Sandy. She was a proud and loving mother to her son.Fran was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and coworker. She was a person who had enduring friendships, and she kept in touch with her friends throughout the years. Fran leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 46 years, Philip Young, Sr.; her loving son, Philip Young, Jr. and his wife, Paula. In addition, Fran had 5 grandchildren Brandon, Andrew, Adam, Jordan, and Frankie and a great-grandson Amare. Fran is survived by two sisters, Ms. Cecelia Morris, Minneapolis, MN and Ms. Veronica Howard, Indianapolis, IN and two brothers, Manuel Morris, Ft. Washington, MD and Peter Morris, Fall River, MA. She was also the sister of the late Monica Getty, Joseph Morris, John Morris, Ignatius Morris, and Alexander Morris. Fran is also survived by her aunts; Ms. Anna Pryor of Fall River, MA and Ms. Mary Brown of Brooklyn, NY. Fran also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins among them are Mark Harmon, Christopher Morris, Kimberly Morris, Melissa Frank, and Sharon Young to name a few who have many fond and treasured memories. Fran also had a countless number of friends located in various states that she touched and friendships she treasured.Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 10:30 am in Calvary Baptist Church, 4 Ludlow Terrace, Middletown. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
