Born in Newport, RI on June 8, 1931, she was the daughter of Lewis Francis Viau and Mary Sanches Viau. Ms. Viau worked in the accounting department at Newport Hospital for her entire career. She started in 1950 and served in many different roles including billing clerk. Ms. Viau was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Aquidneck Business and Professional Womens Assoc, and the Newport Health Care Corp. She was also active with the Newport Hospital Auxillary, and received Auxillary member of the year in 1997 and Newport Hospital Volunteer of the Year in 2003. Frances was also a volunteer with the Catholic Charity Fund since 1972. Frances was a member at the Edward King Center and the Middletown Senior Center. She is survived by her two brothers Joseph A. Viau of Newport, RI, and John L Viau of Watson Town, PA, an aunt Helen Sanches of Newport, RI, an uncle Eddie Sanches of Newport, RI and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held Thursday, July 1, at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
