Francis Anthony Lawrence

Francis Anthony Lawrence, 94, of Middletown died Monday, August 17, 2015 at RI Veterans Home of Bristol, RI. He was the husband of Helen Mary (Arruda) Atwater Lawrence.Born on July 4, 1921 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Silvia) Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence served in the US Navy during World War II. He was owner and operator of Lawrence Real Estate and Insurance. Mr. Lawrence was a member of Jesus Saviour Church, the Vasco da Gama, the Jesus Saviour School Committee and Past President of the Holy Name Society and the Newport Taxpayers Association. As a young man, he worked for Hoods Dairyand enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed a good book and working on his computer, in addition to writing letters to the editor of the Newport Daily News.Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived by his children Francis Lawrence, Jr. and his wife Olinda (Alves) Lawrence of Warwick, RI, Bev Lawrence and her fianc Jim Harmon of Fernandina Beach, FL, David J. Lawrence and his wife Jennifer O'Hora of Middletown, RI, and Helen Lawrence Botelho and her husband Edward of Stuart, FL and Middletown, RI. He also leaves his grandchildren, Katherine (Kancler) Kaczmarek and her husband Joseph of Jensen Beach, FL, Robert Kancler of Jensen Beach, FL, Alanna Lawrence, Julia Lawrence, all of Middletown, RI, Jonathan, William and Anthony Lawrence all of Warwick, RI and his great grandson Dominic Robert Kaczmarek of Jensen Beach, FL.He was the brother of the late Anthony J. Lawrence; Manuel J. Lawrence; Joseph P. Lawrence; Edward A. Lawrence; Louis L. Lawrence; Mary Vanderheyden; and Henry P.
