Francis H. Lapointe

Middletown, RI - Francis H. ?Frank? LaPointe, 75, of 16 Roy Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Elizabeth ?Betty? Walsh LaPointe. Mr. and Mrs. LaPointe just celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary last Thursday and renewed their vows. Born in Fall River, MA on Aug. 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Francis H. LaPointe and the late Annie Brown LaPointe Collins.Mr. LaPointe was a 1949 graduate of Rogers High School. He went on to graduate from the Newport Business School. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. LaPointe was a comptroller for the former Harrison Ford in Newport and worked as an accountant for the Governors Energy Commission. Mr. LaPointe?s memberships include the Middletown Democratic Town Committee and in the 1970?s the Middletown Town Council. He was presently an executive board member of the Newport Chapter of A.A.R.P. He was a member of the Middletown Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Newport Jaycees. Mr. LaPointe served as a member on the Governers Crime Commission. He was a communicant of St. Lucys Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Besides his wife he leaves his children, Patricia Perron of Windham, NH, John F. LaPointe of Mill Valley, CA and Fran Kretzschmar of Portsmouth, RI, six grandchildren, Kenneth Greenman, Casey Perron, Meghan Perron, Leighann Greenman, Brett Perron and Zachary Perron, and three great-grandchildren, Austin Greenman, Aidan Breer, and Brady Greenman. He was the father of the late Bruce LaPointe His funeral will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 8:00a.m.from the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00a.m.in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial with military honors will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
