PORTSMOUTH, RI ? Francis ?Chic? J. Aguiar, 81, of Union Street, Portsmouth, RI died Thursday, December 1, 2005, at Miriam Hospital, Providence, RI. He was the husband of Marian N. Pimental Aguiar of Portsmouth. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Raposa Aguiar.Mr. Aguiar was a technician for Kaiser Aluminum for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was an independent trailer truck driver and also a volunteer fire fighter for the Portsmouth Fire Department. Mr. Aguiar was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. Chic was an avid gardener and carpenter. Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by his sisters Roseida Faria and Angela Pimentel both of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter in-law Carol H. Young of Cranston, RI, and many nieces and nephews.He was the father of the late Paul J. Aguiar and the brother of the late Joseph Aguiar, Manuel Aguiar and Mary Cabral. His funeral will be held on Monday, December 5, 2005, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2005, from 2-6PM in the Connors Funeral Home.
