Windsor, - Lt. Francis Joseph Miller, USN, Ret., 95, of 1969 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor, CT, formerly of Newport and Middletown, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 surrounded by his family members at Kimberly Hall North Winsor, CT.He was the beloved husband of the late Julia McNerney Miller. Lt. Miller was born on October 17, 1902 in Norwalk, CT. He was the son of the late Harry Miller and Mary Hamilton Miller.Lt. Miller is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Brian Haney of Windsor, CT, three grandchildren, Tara Swift of Windsor, CT, Karen Danyow of New Haven, VT and Steven Haney of Vergennes, VT. He is also survived by three great-grandsons, Joshua Swift and Jared and Sean Danyow. His sister, Mary Miller Stabell and brother, Edward Miller both of Norwalk, CT also survive him along with several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Joseph Miller, James Miller, John Miller, William Miller, Alice Wilmot and Helen Miller.Lt. Miller was on active duty with the United States Navy for 22 years. He served in the Nicaraguan Campaign and was on the staff of the Fighter Director School CIC North Island, San Diego, CA and also the staff of the Pacific Fleet Schools. He retired from the Navy in 1949.He was employed by Civil Service and worked at the Naval Supply Depot and the Naval Communications Center in Newport, RI. He retired after 22 years, in 1971.Lt. Miller was a member of the USS Enterprise CV-6 Association, The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National AARP and The Retired Officers Association.His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 8:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00am, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
