Newport, - Francis Norman Hurley, 79, of 4 Pond Avenue Newport, formerly of Clarke Street, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center Newport, RI.He was the husband of Irene Seaman Hurley. Born in Newport, RI on December 24, 1922, he was the son of the late Armstead Hurley and Jane Addison Hurley. Mr. Hurley worked for the United States Naval Base for forty-seven years retiring in 1987 as a Maintainence worker. Besides his wife Irene, he is survived by his sons Frank J. Cochran of Providence, RI, Robert L. Cochran of Denver, CO, Stanley Hurley and James Hurley both of Newport, RI, four daughters Alethea Douglass of Middletown, RI, Donna Johnson and Frances Valles both of Newport, RI, and Kathren Cannon of Orlando, FL, his brother Reginald Hurley of Newport, RI, and sixteen grandchildren.Mr. Hurley was the father of the late Teri E. Cochran and brother of the late, Robert Hurley, Peter Hurley, William Hurley and Lawrence Hurley.Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 8, 2002 at 11:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
